I have heard many teacher bloggers say that you should choose a niche based on your passion. While I agree with that, it still needs to be commercially viable. If you own a space in the niche “hang nails”, there will not be a lot of people that come to read about hang nails. That being said there would also not be a lot to write about when it comes to hang nails.
One way to see if your niche has a reasonable audience is to google a keyword in your niche. That would be a word phrase that best describes your niche. The amount of searches for that phrase should be in the millions.
Next look at all the related articles that surround that niche to see the kind of information that those keywords produce. Sometimes the keywords we think best describe our niche may be used to find other information. Next, go to the keyword search tool in Google and type in your keywords. Look at related keywords and their popularity. The more keywords that are popular means that you have good base of people that are looking for information surrounding your niche. You can also see how your niche topic is ranking in Google Trends.

Keyword research involves finding keywords people use to describe information they want to find. The trick is to find keyword phrases that people are using to search that 1. Don’t have a lot of competition and 2. Bring enough traffic to your site to make it worth creating a blog post around.
One trick is to find keyword phrases that have at least seven words in it. Now I am not saying that you should just randomly add words to a keyword that is ranking well. These should be real phrases that people use to find information. This is where good keyword tools comes into play.
One tool that I like is a free tool called Ubersuggest. It is great for suggesting keywords that you might want to use in search. Another tool is a inexpensive tool called Jaaxy. So what I do is I go to Quora and I type in some keywords that are related to my niche. Then I see what questions come up. Then I take those questions and I feed them into Ubersuggest and look for long tailed keywords phrases with 4 to seven words in the phrase. Then I take them and I put them into Jaxxy to find out more detailed stats about how they rank for competition and search.
Jaxxy will allow you to make lists and store them on Jaxxy. If ever you want to export them on your computer, Jaxxy allows you to easily to that.

Also, posting links in a business page that you own is a great way to distribute your content. Having a social presence on as many social platforms as possible is a great distribution tool. There are hundreds more but all of them have related products that you can promote within your blog posts that can serve to help you generate and very good income over time.
